Anxiety Care for Women
Anxiety Evaluation and Treatment for Women
You can look composed while your mind and body never seem to turn off.
Private, personalized psychiatric care for women experiencing persistent worry, physical tension, panic symptoms, disrupted sleep or anxiety that has become difficult to manage. Your evaluation considers your psychiatric symptoms, medical history, medications, hormonal transitions and relevant laboratory findings when clinically appropriate.

Does This Feel Familiar?
Anxiety does not always look like panic.
Sometimes it looks like staying prepared for everything, replaying conversations or appearing calm while your body remains on high alert.
Your mind starts racing as soon as everything becomes quiet.
You replay conversations and worry that you said the wrong thing.
Your body feels tense, restless or alert even when nothing is obviously wrong.
You appear capable and composed but feel overwhelmed underneath.
Sleep is interrupted by worry, dread or a sudden feeling of being wide awake.
Your anxiety changed during postpartum, perimenopause or another hormonal transition.
Recognizing yourself here does not establish a diagnosis. It may mean that a thoughtful evaluation is worth considering.

From Mabel’s Bookshelf
A thoughtful read for the overthinking mind
Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen explores why our thoughts can feel convincing without always being accurate. I recommend it as a reflective companion for women caught in cycles of worry, rumination and self-doubt.

What a Comprehensive Anxiety Evaluation Includes
Time to listen
We discuss when your symptoms began, how they affect your daily life and what you have already tried.
A full-picture review
Your psychiatric and medical history, medications, sleep, stress, hormonal transitions and physical symptoms are considered together.
Thoughtful assessment
Validated screening tools may support the evaluation, but no single checklist determines your diagnosis or treatment plan.
A personalized plan
Recommendations are based on your symptoms, medical history, preferences, treatment goals and clinical needs.
This visit is our Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation. You can also read more about The Method.
Beyond the Symptom
What Else Can Contribute to Anxiety Symptoms?
Anxiety can be a psychiatric condition, and anxiety-like symptoms can also overlap with medical conditions, medication effects, sleep disruption, caffeine or substance use and hormonal transitions. A careful evaluation helps determine what deserves further attention.
Thyroid conditions
Some thyroid conditions can cause or intensify symptoms such as a racing heart, tremors, restlessness and difficulty sleeping.
Sleep disruption
Poor or inconsistent sleep can intensify worry, irritability, physical tension and difficulty regulating emotions.
Medication, stimulant or caffeine effects
Prescription medications, supplements, stimulants and caffeine can sometimes contribute to anxiety-like symptoms.
Hormonal transitions
Postpartum changes, menstrual-cycle changes and perimenopause may influence anxiety symptoms in some women.
Other medical or nutritional concerns
When your history or symptoms suggest another possible contributor, targeted testing or coordination with another medical provider may be appropriate.
Laboratory testing is not required for every patient. Testing is selected only when clinically appropriate and does not replace a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Outside laboratory fees are not included in the appointment fee.
Related concerns include Hormonal Mood Changes, Insomnia and Fatigue and ADHD and Brain Fog.
Personalized Care
Treatment Based on Your Needs
Anxiety treatment should reflect your symptoms, preferences, medical history and daily life. Your plan may include psychiatric medication management, psychotherapy or therapy recommendations, practical support for sleep and stress, targeted testing when clinically appropriate, or coordination with another medical provider.
Medication is never automatic, and it is never ruled out when it may help. Every recommendation is discussed with you so that you understand the options, expected benefits, possible risks and next steps.
Continuing care is available through Ongoing Medication Management.
