Frequently Asked Questions About Concierge Psychiatry

Clear answers about private-pay psychiatric care, comprehensive evaluations, laboratory testing, medication management, telehealth and what to expect at The Root Cause NP.

Getting Started

Lab-informed psychiatric care combines a comprehensive psychiatric assessment with a review of your medical history, sleep, medications, daily functioning and relevant laboratory findings when clinically appropriate. Laboratory testing may help identify biological factors that overlap with changes in mood, energy, concentration or sleep. Labs support the clinical evaluation; they do not replace an appropriate psychiatric diagnosis and are not ordered automatically for every patient.

The practice currently focuses on adult women seeking private-pay psychiatric care that allows more time for a comprehensive evaluation and individualized treatment plan. Care is provided only when the patient’s needs fall within the practice’s clinical scope.

Common concerns include anxiety, depression and low mood, ADHD and difficulty focusing, insomnia, burnout and fatigue, PMDD, postpartum changes, perimenopausal mood changes and other symptoms that may involve both psychiatric and physiological factors. Treatment recommendations depend on the individual evaluation and clinical fit.

The complimentary 15-minute consultation is a brief conversation to discuss what you are experiencing, what you are looking for in care and whether the practice may be an appropriate fit. It is not a psychiatric evaluation, does not establish a provider-patient relationship and does not include diagnosis, treatment or medication prescribing.

The initial evaluation includes a detailed review of your current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, medications, sleep, daily functioning, recent laboratory results and treatment goals. When clinically appropriate, additional testing may be recommended. You will receive an individualized plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, laboratory testing, targeted supplementation, lifestyle guidance or coordination with another healthcare professional.

Evaluation & Treatment

Medication may be an important part of treatment when clinically appropriate. Relevant laboratory findings can add context by identifying medical or nutritional factors that may overlap with psychiatric symptoms or influence treatment decisions. Laboratory testing does not automatically replace medication, and medication is not prescribed solely from a laboratory result.

Testing is individualized and may include a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, thyroid testing, iron and ferritin, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D, metabolic markers and selected hormonal or inflammatory markers when clinically indicated. There is no universal panel for every patient, and testing is based on history, symptoms, timing and clinical judgment.

No. Medication is considered only when it is clinically appropriate and after discussing its potential benefits, limitations, risks and alternatives. Depending on your evaluation, the plan may include medication, supportive therapy, targeted testing, lifestyle recommendations, coordination with another clinician or a combination of approaches.

Yes, when clinically appropriate and with your written authorization. Care may be coordinated with your primary care provider, therapist, OB-GYN, endocrinologist or another treating professional. Coordination depends on clinical need, patient consent and the availability of the other provider.
